If you are a Digital Marketing professional, you certainly know the importance of landing pages. These pages need to be “stripped” of unnecessary elements to ensure the focus remains on one thing: converting! Additionally, they must clearly communicate the offer, present an appropriate form, and guide visitors through the shopping journey.
There are several optimization practices that can make a significant difference in your conversion rate. Before diving into them, the question remains: have you researched what other companies in your industry are doing? You will certainly gain new ideas!
1. Keyword Choice
The keyword for your landing page must be aligned with the content and the stage of the purchase journey. For example, to attract customers at the top of the funnel, you could include terms like “tips,” “guide,” or “how to.” On the other hand, if the landing page targets the bottom of the funnel, use words like “buy,” “discount,” or “price.” Avoid using overly generic keywords.
Also, create a good snippet. Snippets are made up of three elements: title, URL, and meta description. These “snippets” that appear in search engine results must be inviting, objective, and clear. Here’s why:
- Title: Although not mandatory, including the keyword in the title is recommended as it increases relevance. A title that directly reflects the content of the landing page tends to reduce bounce rates, as people find exactly what they are looking for.
- URL and Meta Description: Both should contain the keyword. The URL is an important factor for improving the page’s ranking on search engines.
2. Landing Page Content
You may have read or heard that longer content is more relevant. However, for landing pages, this isn’t the case. If the text is too long, the conversion goal can be lost. The important thing is to get straight to the point: completing the form. Avoid banners, pop-ups, links, or navigation bars that could distract visitors and lead them to other pages before they convert.
3. The Importance of Images
Including relevant images is essential on landing pages. When choosing images, remember that Google penalizes pages that take too long to load. Therefore, select images that load quickly, or use tools to compress them without losing quality.
4. Customer Testimonials Matter
Testimonials increase the credibility of your brand and help build trust. So, include real statements from current customers on your landing page. The opinions of other users contribute significantly to the decision-making process.
5. Mobile Optimization
This isn’t exclusively a landing page optimization tip, but it’s still crucial! We know that users are consuming more content through mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets. Therefore, create mobile-friendly landing pages.
6. Leverage the URL After the Offer Ends
The offer just ended, and you’re thinking of deleting your landing page? Why not leverage the URL to promote other content or direct visitors to your website/blog? There are several alternatives:
- Replace the landing page with a thank-you page after a campaign.
- Use the URL to inform visitors about the success of the campaign.
- Keep the landing page with a form so visitors can get next year’s offers first-hand.
These practices help keep your address indexed by search engines and generate leads throughout the year!
7. Test, Test, and… Test!
There are no perfect landing pages. For each brand, campaign, or stage in the funnel, there are elements that work better or worse. The key is constant testing. Run A/B tests and analyze the performance of images, CTAs, titles, element layout, and more, one at a time. Test different options and determine which ones lead to the most conversions.
Landing pages are indispensable in Content Marketing! They offer endless possibilities and, therefore, high conversion potential. The key is to optimize them to fulfill their main goal: guide visitors to the final stage of the sales funnel. You don’t have to follow all the tips, but understanding which ones work best for your business is crucial for success.
